Question by coolgirl2430: My husband builds entertainment centers for people what would you pay for the labor and time he puts into it?
My husband recently spent $ 300 for materials to build an entertainment center for someone. There is a lot of detail and time he is putting into it. He will only make $ 50 off of this project. What would you pay for labor of something like this? I hope I make sense of what I am wanting to know. Thankyou!

I think what your husband needs to do is call other people who build entertainment centers and describe the unit he has just built. Then ask them for what they would charge.
It is less about what a person might pay or what is fair than it is about what a client could get the identical unit for elsewhere.

the trouble with building something like this is that people think they can go to wal-mart and buy a sauder entertainment center for 100 dollars and it is the same as the one your husband built…they just dont understand the workmanship and quality of the solid wood involved…he has to figure his time and material and set a price and stick to it…i live in an economically depressed area and cant get good prices for the jewelry boxes i make in the winter when i’m laid off…
